MY ISP NO LONGER SUPPORTS ANONYMOUS FTP, I NEED TO EVALUATE THIS CHANGE AND UPDATE THIS PAGE.  DO NOT USE AT THIS TIME.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR DIGITAL MEDIA

It is preferred to scan images in the tiff format.  This is an uncompress format and ideal for sending the data without any degradation due to compression, (jpeg and others compress data each time you save the file, the more times it is edited and saved, the more the degradation, where tiff is the same each time it is saved).  These can be about 5x or more larger but much more ideal for clean up by software such as Photoshop.

NOTES ON RETRIEVING DATA

When downloading data, you will find pictures in both a jpg and tiff format.  The tiff are much larger and uncompressed.  I have not done any touch up on any pictures but have still posted many in jpg format for those that want to download and print.

How Do I Use FTP?

There are several ways to access files using FTP.  FTP stands for file transfer protocol, this is an internet language for exchanging files over the internet.  There are several ways to do this, one is by using the command window.  An alternative is to use a web browser.  You may have an FTP client on your PC.  If your accessing it through your web browser, go to the website above and if it does not prompt for a password, you may have to go to the File menu and select the Login As...  For other browsers, set the password to values given above.    Email me if you have any problems.

FTP Client

A free and simple to use ftp client is filezilla, available at:

    http://filezilla-project.org/

Select the client and the appropriate operating system.  Installation is simple, (a caveman can do it).  Once it is installed, start Flowzilla and fill in the connection information as shown below:

You can drag files from the remote site on the right to a desired location on your computer on the left, see below:

You can drag pictures or folders of pictures from your computer to the 'incoming' folder' on my site.
