Home Up

I also love to camp and white water raft. Spending time in the mountains is one of the greatest getaways for me and with the Sierra Nevada only hours away by car, what a getaway it is.

White Water Rafting on the Western Sierras

Class IV rapid on this two day run down the American River, (California uses a scale of 1 to 5).

Me in the back beside the guide, (back left as facing forward, furthest away in the picture).

We lost one guy in the rapid.  The boat flipped him out and he grabbed for the boat.  The guide is using her oar to push him away from the boat.  The boat is massive with all the people on board and can crush a person against a rock and kill him. I am in the far back seat alone, trying to steer it, (the back seat is where the driver sits).

Me still in the back in the drivers seat, like I know what I am doing here.

This rapid bent the boat in half, and when it flexed back to flat, it sent the guide up.  This picture shows her as she is being launched airborne, (she is in the back right seat), I am beside her to her left.  She was instructing me on guiding the boat through the rapids. She was thrown clear of the boat so I had it on my own until we got through the rapids.

Another shot just before or after above, I am in the back left seat still.

Camping

Camping in the Easter Sierra's, I believe this is at Convict Lake, one of my favorite lakes to camp at.

Fourwheeling Near Calico Gold Mine, north of Barstow.  This was my Toyota 4x4 on dry creek bed.
