DRIVE IT LIKE YOU STOLE IT!
This is my Toyota Landcruiser, yes, Toyota, not a "Jeep". It is my
hobby car but after my accident in the 4Runner in April 2003, it is also my
primary source of transportation. I hope to get another primary car in the
near future so I can go back to working on the Landcruiser as a project car.
How It All Came About
Ever since a young guy, I always loved Toyota Landcruiser. In 1986, I
had a friend that found one available in Chatsworth, CA. My goal was to
put a Chevy 350 engine in it and the one available had the original six cylinder
removed. The guy had started to rebuild the engine and after
disassemblying it, he decided to just sell it as is. I had to pull it home
on a two trailer. With the help of a friend, Alan Raetz, we located an old
350 from a Corvette that was in a junk yard. We rebuilt the engine and
installed it in the Landcruiser. I have been driving it ever since.
The custom dash. I fabricated this dash panel myself, all electrical is
controlled by these small toggle switches and power relays under the hood.
The engine is a Chevy 350 with high performance parts. I had to take it
down to the chassis and start it from the frame!
